KILLER BEES ADD PLAYOFF DEPTH

MATT DONSKOV AND TERRY DUNBAR ADDED TO BEES PLAYOFF ROSTER

HIDALGO, TX: March 15, 2004 – The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League signed and added forward Matt Donskov and goaltender Terry Dunbar to their playoff roster today.

"These additions give us depth heading into the postseason," said Killer Bees Head Coach Tracy Egeland. "They are both coming off of successful seasons and careers at the college level and will strengthen our team."

Donskov (dawns-koff), a 6'3" 200-pound native of Westerville, Ohio, just closed out his college career at SUNY Cortland (NCAA Div. III), where he tallied 41 goals and 60 assists for 101 points in 102 games. This season, he competed in 25 games with the Red Dragons and tallied 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points to rank fourth on the squad. Donskov served as the team captain and led the team in shorthanded goals (3) while also ranking second on the squad with four power play goals. He ranked third on the team in scoring in 01/02 as a junior with 21 points on 9 goals and 12 assists, and tied for the team lead in power play goals with 6. The 22 year-old forward led all of Division III hockey with 12 power play goals in 01/02 as a sophomore and ranked second on the squad in points with 37 points (17g, 20a). Donskov also performed well in the classroom, earning two Verizon District At-Large Academic All-American honors and was a member of the Dean's List. Prior to Cortland, Donskov played for the Wexford Raiders of the Ontario Provincial Jr. "A" Hockey League. He comes from a hockey background, as his father (Paul) played hockey at the University of Toronto, brothers Misha played college hockey at Norwich University and at the University of Findlay and played professionally in Norway, while Anthony played at Miami (OH) University and professionally in the CHL with the Lubbock Cotton Kings. In Lubbock, Anthony played under Bees head coach Tracy Egeland and was recognized as the CHL's Man of the Year. His family runs several hockey camps, schools and programs at the Worthington Ice Center (Worthington, Ohio) and works with inner-city taskforces in the Columbus, Ohio area.

Dunbar also comes to the Killer Bees after closing out a college career. The 6'2" 200 pound native of Duluth, Minnesota arrives from Marian College (NCAA Div. III), which is the same program Bees rookie Dan Odegard played for. Ironically, Odegard was the 02/03 Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) Player of the Year and Dunbar was recently named the 03/04 MCHA Player of the Year after going 16-10-0 with a 2.20 GAA, a 91.1% save percentage and 2 shutouts. He went 13-2-0 in conference play with a 1.63 GAA and a 92.5% save percentage. Dunbar leaves the program holding career records in games played (91), minutes played (5299), wins (49), saves (2156) and owns many single-season goaltending school records. He owns several MCHA honors, including multiple MCHA Goalie of the Week awards, two MCHA First Team All-Conference selections (03/04, 01/02) and MCHA Second Team All-Conference (00/01) honors. Prior to Marian, Dunbar played junior hockey briefly with the America West Hockey League's (AWHL) Bismarck Bobcats. Dunbar's addition adds depth behind Bees goaltender Jeff Levy and Jacque Vezina, who Dunbar is very familiar with. Vezina and Dunbar went head-to-head against each other as Marian College and University of Wisconsin - River Falls opened up the 00/01 and 01/02 seasons playing against each other. Dunbar and Vezina will enter their first professional playoff season together, but now as teammates.

In the playoffs, the CHL allows a maximum of two amateur players to be added to the postseason rosters. The players do not count against the CHL developmental (rookie) rules on the roster. Also, teams can not exceed dressing 18 players for playoff games. Additional players are considered healthy scratches, unless injured.

The Bees return to action Friday night in Laredo to open up postseason play and the best-of-five Round 1 of the CHL Southern Conference Playoffs. Individual playoff tickets for Games 3 (March 27th) and Game 4 (if necessary on March 28th) to be played at the Dodge Arena are currently available at all Dodge Arena ticket outlets.
