Bradenton Marauders News Release
Bradenton, Fla. - The Bradenton Marauders will hold Evan Chambers Night on Thursday, July 10, to pay tribute to the former outfielder who passed away suddenly last December. Chambers played with the team in 2011 and 2012, appearing in the third most games of any Marauder in franchise history. The first 500 fans at the game will receive an Evan Chambers t-shirt with his jersey number, 53, on the back.
Chambers was dedicated to community service in the cities he played in, and as a native of nearby Lakeland, he was especially dedicated in the Bradenton area. One of Chambers' favorite places to volunteer was at Dream Oaks Camp, a camp for children with special needs, chronic illnesses, and terminal illnesses. Dream Oaks Camp is funded and operated by Foundation for Dreams, Inc. For every copy of The Marauders Magazine, the official gameday program of the Marauders, sold at McKechnie Field in the second half of the season, one dollar will be donated to the Foundation for Dreams. Additionally, the Marauders will hold a silent auction featuring memorabilia and gameday experiences at the July 10 game to benefit the charity. One half of the night's Launch-a-Ball proceeds will go to the Foundation of Dreams as well.
The players and coaches of the Marauders will wear an "EC" patch on their caps for the game in memory of Chambers. The team will also wear the Evan Chambers t-shirts for a pregame ceremony, with every member of the team lining up as number 53. Children from Dream Oaks Camp will take the field with the Marauders as baseball buddies, sponsored by SprinklerWorks.
The McKechnie Field ticket office is open on non-gamedays Tuesday-Friday from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. On Monday-Friday gamedays the ticket office is open from noon until the conclusion of the game. The ticket office opens two hours before Saturday, Sunday, and morning games. Single game tickets can be purchased at the ticket office, online at www.BradentonMarauders.com, or by phone be calling 877-893-2827.
