
Marauders Sweep Mets in Doubleheader

BRADENTON, Fla. - The Bradenton Marauders swept a doubleheader against the St. Lucie Mets on Friday at McKechnie Field.
The Marauders won the first game 7-3 and the second game 1-0. With the victories, the Marauders took over first place in the FSL South Division. The Mets entered the day one game up.
In game 1, the Mets streak of seven consecutive quality starts came to an end. The Marauders tagged starter Corey Oswalt for seven hits and four runs in five innings.
Bradenton hit five doubles in the game. Elvis Escobar's two-bagger in the second put runners at second and third with no outs. Michael Suchy's RBI ground out plated a run to give the Marauders a 2-1 lead. Escobar scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-1.
The Mets trailed 4-1 in the sixth but scored two runs to get within one. Patrick Biondi scored on a throwing error by pitcher Colton Brewer. Amed Rosario's sac fly brought home Champ Stuart to cut the deficit to 4-3.
The Mets had the tying run on second base in the fifth and sixth innings but couldn't get the runner home.
Bradenton broke the game open with three runs on four hits, including three doubles, off of Robby Coles in the bottom of the sixth.
Rosario and Biondi both went 3 for 3 in the loss.
Suchy drove in three runs for the Marauders.
In game 2, Pablo Reyes led off the sixth with a double. He moved to second on a sac bunt and scored on Chase Simpson's sac fly for the only run of the game.
The two Marauders pitchers, Jose Regalado and Miguel Rosario, combined retire the last 15 batters of the game.
The Mets only scoring chance came in the second when Kevin Taylor and John Mora were in scoring position with one out. Jerrick Suiter made a diving stop on Jhoan Urena's grounder to first that saved two runs. Regalado then struck out Patrick Biondi to strand both runners.
Kevin McGowan pitched four shutout innings in a spot start. He lowered his season ERA to 1.00.
Next Up: The Mets (25-23, 2nd) and Marauders (26-22, 1st) continue their series at McKechnie Field on Saturday with a single nine-inning game. First pitch is 6:30 p.m. The Mets are 0-4 at McKechnie this season.
