
MAPFRE Stadium to Host 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup Champion United States Women's National Team Friendly on November 7

COLUMBUS - In conjunction with U.S. Soccer, MAPFRE Stadium today announced that it is set to host an international friendly for the United States Women's National Team against Sweden on Thursday, November 7 (7:30 p.m. ET on FS1 & TUDN). The 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup champions are set to play their ninth-ever match at MAPFRE Stadium.
The U.S. last faced Sweden at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France, with the Americans winning 2-0 in a group stage match (June 20). The USWNT went on to become champions of the tournament, with Sweden taking third place. The match at MAPFRE Stadium on November 7 marks the 40th time the United States have faced Sweden dating back to 1987.
Tickets for the international friendly go on sale to the public on Thursday, September 26 at 10:00 a.m. ET through ussoccer.com and by phone at 1-800-745-3000. Groups of 20 or more can order directly at ussoccer.com starting Friday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. ET. Columbus Crew SC Season Ticket Members will receive information via email about a special pre-sale opportunity.
MAPFRE Stadium has played host to eight U.S. Women's National Team matches all-time, with the Stars & Stripes holding a record of 6-1-1 at the venue, outscoring opponents 30-6. The matches at MAPFRE Stadium include a 3-0 victory by the USWNT over North Korea in the Group Stage of the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup. The U.S. last played at MAPFRE Stadium on March 1, 2018 in a friendly against Germany.
The U.S. Women are currently on a 14-game winning streak, which of course includes the triumphant seven-game run at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France and will finish 2019 having played 22 total matches.
