Manitoba Moose News Release
Game Story
The Manitoba Moose (2-1-1) and Bakersfield Condors (1-1-0) matched up for their second game in three nights on Thursday. In a similar theme to Tuesday's game, the Condors opened the scoring with the Moose picking up a tying marker in short order. Joey Benik got it going with a shot up under the crossbar from just outside Ondrej Pavelec's crease at 6:01. Three minutes later, Jan Kostalek's point shot slipped through a crowd and found twine to tie the game 1-1. That score held until the break with both Pavelec and Condors netminder Nick Ellis making eight saves each in the period.
The second period saw both teams' powerplays get some work done. Closing in on the three minute mark, Scott Kosmachuk gave the Moose their first lead of the night with a powerplay goal from the slot. The Moose enjoyed the advantage until nine minutes into the frame when Ryan Hamilton found Matt Benning to the side of the Moose net for a powerplay goal. Just 1:15 later, Bakersfield jumped in front. Jere Sallinen got credit for the goal off a scramble in front of the Moose net with the puck just trickling over the line. The Moose pushed to tie the game before the period was out, putting 13 shots on Ellis in the frame, but went to the third trailing 3-2.
The Moose powerplay struck for the second time on the evening to tie the contest seven minutes into the third. Jack Roslovic held the puck in the faceoff circle before picking his spot, just off the post, to make it 3-3. The youth movement kept rolling when Brendan Lemieux tipped a Julian Melchiori point shot past Ellis to put the Moose on top. With the Condors net empty, and the clock ticking toward the final minute, Nic Petan stole the puck in the neutral zone and deposited it into the open cage to give Manitoba breathing room at 5-3. The cushion was required as Jujhar Khaira added a tally with just one second left, but the Moose took home the 5-4 victory.

Quotable
Jack Roslovic - "My teammates really help me adjust to this league. Being the youngest guy on the team, they really support me."
Pascal Vincent - "I thought the room did a good job to regroup between the second and the third period, and then we played a good third period. We're a young team, and we're full of emotion, we just have to channel our emotion properly. It's a learning curve, and momentum switched a little bit, but I thought overall we played a good game."
