Manitoba Moose Post-Game Report - Manitoba at Rockford - February 17

Goals:

- Marko Dano creates a turnover inside the Moose zone and passes to Tanner Kero who goes in alone and beats Connor Hellebuyck with a wrist shot. Rockford's goal is scored shorthanded at 3:52 of the first period.

- Moose forward Matt Fraser passes out front to an open JC Lipon who fires a quick wrist shot past Michael Leighton at 6:34 of the first period.

- JC Lipon feeds Patrice Cormier who is parked in front of the Rockford net and he beats Leighton on the powerplay 54 seconds into the second period.

- John Albert works hard on the side boards to wrestle the puck away from the IceHogs, he passes to Patrice Cormier who goes in and scores on a great backhand deke at 2:33 of the second period.

- After the Moose have a two-on-one opportunity, the IceHogs come back with a two-on-one of their own where Ryan Hartman fires on net and it is tipped in past Hellebuyck by Mark McNeill at 15:43 of the second period.

- John Albert creates a turnover at the Moose blue line and goes in on a breakaway and scores on a wrist shot over the blocker of Leighton at 4:31 of the third period.

- After Matt Halischuk drove the net Patrice Cormier grabs the rebound and puts it in past Leighton for his third of the game at 11:22 of the third period.

Highlights/Notes:

- This game was played with a special start time of 10:30 a.m. with the majority of the 6,304 in attendance made up of kids for a School Day Game.

- Patrice Cormier recorded his first hat trick of the season. Cormier got the hat trick by recording an even strength goal, a powerplay goal and a shorthanded goal. It was his second career AHL hat trick and first since Mar. 29, 2012 while he was with St. John's. In his last six games he has recorded three goals and five assists for eight points. It was the second hat trick scored by a Moose player this season, Chase De Leo had the other on Dec. 19, 2015 against Milwaukee.

- JC Lipon returned to the Moose lineup after missing their last game. He recorded a goal and an assist and now has two goals and eight assists for 10 points in his last five games.

- John Albert continued his hot streak by recording a goal and assist. He has at least a point in six of the seven Moose games during the month of February. In that span he has four goals and three assists for seven points.

- Forward Austen Brassard extended his point streak to three games with an assist. He has recorded at least a point in five of his last six games with two goals and four assists for six points.

- Matt Halischuk recorded two assists in the game and now has at least one point in four of his last five games with a goal and five assists in that stretch.

- Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck won his second straight game since returning to the Moose lineup from the Winnipeg Jets last Friday. He made 30 saves today and now has a 2.34 goals against average and .930 save percentage in the AHL this season.

- The Moose scored a powerplay goal for the third straight game, matching a season high for consecutive games with a powerplay goal. In their last three games the Moose powerplay has gone five-for-eight, scoring at a 62.5% clip.

- The Moose had a perfect penalty kill for the fourth straight game, a season high. They are 15-for-15 during that stretch. They matched a season high by killing off seven powerplays by the opposition in a game.

- The Moose won their first regulation game on the road since Dec. 1 against Milwaukee. The win snaps the road winless streak of 0-10-2-1.

- This was the first of four meetings between the Moose and IceHogs this season.

Next game will be a rematch between the Moose and Rockford IceHogs this coming Friday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. CT.
