Goaltender Peter Budaj Returns to Reign from Kings

Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that goaltender Peter Budaj has returned to the Reign on loan from the Kings.

Budaj, 33, leads the AHL with a 1.58 goals-against average, 26 wins, eight shutouts, .935 save percentage and 2285 minutes played. The Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, native stands fifth in the league with 862 saves and represented the Reign during the 2016 AHL All-Star Classic in Syracuse, New York.

During his recall, Budaj earned a 5-4 overtime victory over the New York Rangers on Friday, making 24 saves. The win is his first in the NHL since April 4, 2014. Selected in the second-round (63rd overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by Colorado, Budaj has appeared in 297 career NHL games with Colorado, Montreal and Los Angeles, posting a record of 125-107-36 with a 2.76 goals against average, a .903 save percentage and 11 shutouts.

The Reign return to Citizens Business Bank Arena to host the Heat tonight, Wednesday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m.
