Mammoth's Carey named rookie of the week

Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - Colorado Mammoth forward Dan Carey was named the National Lacrosse League's rookie of the week on Wednesday.
Carey, 23, scored a goal, had a season-high seven assists and collected seven loose balls Friday night in the Mammoth's 18-17 overtime win at Arizona. Carey's seventh assist helped set up Gavin Prout's game-tying goal with less than a minute to play in regulation time.
"Dan had an outstanding game in Arizona and this honor is very much deserved," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "But he's played well in every game this season and that has been most impressive."
Carey, a native of Peterborough, Ontario, has scored at least one goal in each of the Mammoth's six games. He ranks second on the team in assists (20) and points (28).
The Mammoth made Carey its first-round selection in the 2005 NLL entry draft with the No. 7 overall pick after he had impressive seasons at Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y., and with the Peterborough Lakers in the Canadian summer league.
