DENVER – The Colorado Mammoth said goodbye to Curtis Smith yesterday, but promptly welcomed him back today.

Smith was selected by Minnesota in the National Lacrosse League expansion draft on Tuesday, but Mammoth general manager Steve Govett brought the promising forward back on Wednesday in a trade with Minnesota for forwards Rory Graham and Shawn Cable.

Smith, Colorado's third-round selection in last year's entry draft, played in 12 games for the Mammoth in his rookie season. The Victoria, British Columbia, native and former Ohio State star registered 19 points on six goals and 13 assists and picked up 28 loose balls.

"We are thrilled to have Curtis back with us and expect him to continue to grow in his role with the organization," Govett said. "Rory and Shawn both deserve to play in this league and should start on the new team in Minnesota. This is a win/win situation for both clubs."

Cable tallied one goal and four assists last season for the Mammoth, his third in the NLL. He played his first two seasons in Calgary before being acquired by Colorado in the trade that sent Ted Dowling to the Roughnecks.

Graham tallied two assists and 22 penalty minutes in seven games for the Mammoth last season. The physical forward has been in the NLL since 1999 and has also played for Toronto, Columbus and Ottawa.
