Last Week's Games
Friday, October 20th - Mallards 1 at Rockford 6
Kevin Ulanski and Matt Gens each netted a pair of goals as the Rockford IceHogs earned their first win of 2006-07 on Friday night by a final of 6-1. Glenn Detulleo scored the lone Mallards goal as Quad City fell to 0-2-0 on the season. In the first Ulanski scored a pair of goals sandwiched around Gens' first marker. After a scoreless second period, Steve Yetman netted a shorthanded marker just 63 seconds into the final frame. The Hogs moved out to a 5-0 advantage following Gens' second goal of the night at 7:37 of the third. Glenn Detulleo netted the Mallards goal on a 2-on-1 feed from Don Parsons at 12:27 of the third period. With Chad Woollard and Rockford's Nathan Lutz tied up behind the play, Detulleo and Parsons sprung loose to create the odd man rush. The Hogs netted their sixth goal on a delayed Mallards penalty as Nicolas Corbeil netted his first marker of the year.
Saturday, October 21st - Mallards 3 at Fort Wayne 8
On opening night, a Fort Wayne attack that featured six power-play goals was too much for the Mallards as the Komets won 8-3. Don Parsons scored three power-play goals to earn his first Mallards hat trick and the 37th three-goal performance of his career. In the first period, Fort Wayne took a 3-0 lead on a shorthanded goal by J.C. Ruid and a pair of power-play goals by Jonathan Goodwin and Bogdan Rudenko. Parsons scored the first goal of the second period before Fort Wayne stretched their lead to 5-1 on goals by Martin Gascon and a power-play marker by Bruce Richardson. Parsons netted two more power-play markers before the second period ended to send the Mallards to the locker room down 5-3. In the third, the Komets netted three power-play goals (K.J. Voorhees, A.J. Bozoian and Goodwin) to earn the win.
Player of the Week
Don Parsons is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. He recorded a point on each of the Mallards four goals this week. He assisted on Glenn Detulleo's goal on Friday in Rockford and scored all three Mallards goals on Saturday in Fort Wayne.
Goalie of the Week
Jason Tapp is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He made 68 saves while appearing in both Mallards games this weekend.
