Chicago Hounds News Release

Hoffman Estates, Ill. (October 23,006). Eric Margenau, owner of Chicagoland Sports, announced with enthusiasm Monday the confirmation of Brett Vickers to the role of President of Chicagoland Sports. As President of Chicagoland Sports, Vickers will oversee all operations for the Chicago Hounds of the United Hockey League and the yet-to-be-named Continental Football League team. Vickers' responsibilities include sales, marketing, and daily operations. Both teams will be playing their inaugural season at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.

Vickers brings more than a decade of experience to his new role. He began his career in sports as Vice-President of Sales for the Florida Beach Dogs of the Continental Basketball Association. In 1999, Vickers was named President of the United States Basketball League's Florida Sea Dragons. As President, he set league attendance records, sponsorship records, and league revenue records.

"Brett Vickers brings an amazing combination of experience with professional sports as well as a strong business background. We are excited to have his knowledge and passion in our organization," said Margenau on the appointment of Vickers. Margenau added, "Brett has brought a sense of teamwork and focus to the front office staff, he is the catalyst we need to bring everything together as we launch two new teams in this market."

In 2001, Vickers headed to Upper Marlboro, Md. as part-owner and team president of the USBL Maryland Mustangs. His next move took him to the National Lacrosse League as the Vice-President of Team Services. In 2004, Brett started the company Live Wire Sports, which helped bring the The Florida Flame of the NBA's D-league, to the Southwest Florida area.

In 2005 Vickers returned to the NLL, focusing on sales and marketing for the first nationally broadcast on network television, The NLL on NBC. Vickers also has extensive experience in the business world beyond the realm of professional sports. He was a leader in the sales field for both Business Week magazine and Apple Computers, and served as Vice-President for Valet Park, Inc., the 28th-fastest growing franchise company in the nation in 1991. More recently, he was involved in the selling of broadband and narrowband digital switches with Siemens, Inc.

"I see this as an amazing opportunity to work with the UHL and CIFL-- two leagues with great reputations, a state-of-the-art facility, and a talented front office team. We are all working toward a simple goal: bring great sporting events to the Chicagoland area," remarked Vickers on the reasons he accepted this position.

A native of Long Island, New York, Vickers attended Keene State College in Keene, N.H. He is the father of Clinton, 16 and Austin, 12 and has relocated to Chicago from Ft. Myers, FL.

The Sears Centre will be home to Chicago Hounds hockey and CIFL football. It is an 11,000-seat state of the art multi-purpose family entertainment, sports and cultural center in Hoffman Estates' Prairie Stone Business Park. Located right at I-90 and Route 59, it will host more than 135 events each year, and is projected to attract more than 750,000 annual visitors.
