Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Madison, Wis. - For just the second time in the past 16 games, the Kingfish come away from a ballgame un-victorious, dropping a 3-0 defeat to the Madison Mallards. The loss snaps the Kingfish's six game winning streak, and is their first loss of the six game road trip they are currently on.

Josh Serio took the mound for the Kingfish and was handed his first loss, allowing three earned runs in five innings while striking out three. The bullpen would then turn in a strong performance to help keep the Kingfish alive. EJ Trapino threw two scoreless innings, and Garrett McKenzie blanked the Mallards in the eighth. But for as good of a performance the Kingfish had pitching, the Mallards did just a little better, as AJ Bogucki threw a six inning, scoreless gem, and the bullpen followed suit with three shutout innings of their own.

The Kingfish were only able to scatter five hits and four walks. Hits were collected by Nick Sergakis, Alex Borglin, Zach Ratcliff, Jason Scholl, and Jack Sundberg, with walks drawn by all players aforementioned excluding Borglin. The Kingfish had several opportunities to score in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings, but were unable to push any runs across. The team totaled a combined nine runners left on base throughout the evening.

Even with the loss, the Kingfish still maintain a firm, five game hold on first place in the Northwoods League South Division. The Kingfish will look to force a split tomorrow evening at 6:05 CT.
