MOLINE, Ill. (November 18, 2011) - Sean Flanagan scored twice and added two assists while Justin Chwedoruk and Brandon Marino provided a goal and a pair of assists apiece as the host Quad City Mallards defeated the Bloomington Blaze 7-3 Friday night.

The Mallards pulled away by scoring five straight goals in the second and third periods. Flanagan started that goal rush by firing the puck home under the crossbar to snap a 2-2 tie at 3:36 of the second period- just 47 seconds after the Blaze's Jon Booras had evened the score from the doorstep.

The Mallard lead stretched to 4-2 when Eric Giosa buried Obi Aduba's cross-crease pass at 9:45 of the second.

At 5:34 of the third period, Flanagan's one timer would widen the gap to three goals. The Mallards had further reason to celebrate when rookie Jeremy Boyer scored his first career goal- and the Flock's sixth of the evening- at the ten minute mark of the third. Just less than four minutes later, the Quad City wave reached its peak when Boyer's shot was deflected in off teammate Tyler Sheldrake.

Bloomington's Greg Moore jumped into the slot to make it 7-3 with 3:15 remaining in the third, but that goal had no impact on the result of what had started out as a back-and-forth contest. In fact, the night had begun quite brightly for the Blaze, who grabbed the game's first goal when Karl Fournier swooped across the goalmouth to tuck the puck inside the post at 5:55 of the first period. However, the Mallards would respond with a pair of first period goals of their own. Chwedoruk jammed the puck in from the edge of the crease to knot the score at one at 12:13 and, at 17:55, Marino rifled a one timer from the slot to give the Mallards a lead they would only briefly relinquish

The Mallards will visit the Fort Wayne Komets tomorrow night. The Mallards next play at home next Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Komets. Fans attending that contest will have the chance to take advantage of Black Friday merchandise specials at the Mallards Pro Shop in the i wireless Center.
