LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, fell to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 6-2.
The Laredo Bucks visited the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees for the first time during the regular season on Friday night. The Bucks quickly took a 1-0 lead, when Erik Boisvert scored only 36 seconds into the contest. Rusty Masters had an assist on the goal. The Bees tied the game at 1-1 when Jake Hauswirth scored at 13:19. One minute later, the Bees took the lead when Tomas Klempa found the net, giving them a one goal lead. Matt Boyd dropped the gloves against Charles Fontaine at 16:07. Shortly after the fight, at 17:09, Joseph Harcharik would tie the game for the Bucks at 2-2. Harcharik was assisted by Matt Rigtrup.
The Bees would take a 4-2 lead in the second, when Aaron Lee scored a pair of goals. He would score both goals within the first four minutes of the period. The Laredo Bucks would have two powerplay opportunities in the second.
The Bucks started the third period with one minute remaining on the powerplay, but were unable to cash in on the man advantage. The Bees would once again score a pair of goals quickly in the third period. Zac Pearson and Jake Hauswirth would get credit for the goals. Torrie Jung would relieve Ryan Rondeau in net at 4:17 in the third. Ryan Rondeau faced 38 shots and had 32 saves. The Bees held onto to their 6-2 lead to close out the game.
The Laredo Bucks face the Bees once again tomorrow night as they continue to be on the road for their next four games.
