Madison Mallards News Release

Madison, WI - The Mallards opened up a two-game set with the Wausau Woodchucks on Friday afternoon with a 6-1 loss for the Ducks fourth consecutive loss at Warner Park.

Madison started Kade Lancour (5.0 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 2K) on the mound for the second time in a row on a Friday night. The Mallards scored their one run of the night in the bottom of the 5th inning on an RBI single from J.T. Mabry, who scored Dayne Leonard from second base. The trouble for the Ducks came in the 6th inning when they turned to the bullpen. Markell Dixon was the first arm out of the pen. The Woodchucks had a runner land on base due to error to begin the inning. A fielder's choice, a single, and a few walks pushed Wausau in front 3-1.

In just his first appearance of the season for Madison, Trent Hodgdon struggled to find the strike zone with four walks against six batters faced after Dixon departed. Steven Lacey entered in clean-up duty to finish the 7th inning. Lacey only allowed one run on a solo home run in the 8th off the bat of Ryan Sepede (2-3, BB) for just the second homer of the season for the Woodchucks.

The Mallards were unable to do much with leadoff hitters reaching base in four of the nine innings. The offense has been on and off in the past couple games and the Ducks will look to string together a few solid innings tomorrow.

The Mallards cap off a two-game set with Wausau at Warner Park tomorrow night. Coverage of the game can be found under the Northwoods League Live Action tab at 6:35 PM.
