Duluth Huskies News Release
St. Cloud, Minn. - The Huskies increased their winning streak to seven games as they beat the previously undefeated St. Cloud Rox by a score of 6-0.
Harrison Kreiling got the start on the mound for the Huskies, while Johnny Dow was on the bump for the Rox.
The boys in blue got rolling early thanks to a RBI triple from Kristian Campbell. The very next batter, Joe Vos, continued his hot season by grounding into an RBI fielder's choice. At the end of one, Duluth was up 1-0.
Kreiling looked absolutely phenomenal on the mound today. The Rox came into the game with the third best team batting average, 6th most hits, and the least amount of strikeouts in The Northwoods League. You wouldn't know it by watching Kreiling's performance however, as he pitched six innings of no hit ball.
The Huskies continued to help him out on the offensive side of the plate in the 6th inning. It started with JD Rogers getting on base via a single, then Kristian Campbell took a walk. The Rox pulled their starter Dow, and decided to put in Nick Hyde in relief. He three three straight wild pitches to bring in the two base runners. After walking Joe Vos, Bobby Blandford hit a perfectly placed double down the first base line to bring in Vos. At the end of six, the Huskies were up 5-0.
Isaac Cychosz pitched great in relief of Kreiling, who had to come out due to the pitch limit the Northwoods League puts in place. Cychosz did give up a hit, but pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
The Huskies kept adding on in the top of the ninth, when Noah Marcelo hit a moonshot of a triple in the left-center field gap to score Blandford.
The Huskies ended up winning this one by a score of 6-0. They improve to 8-3 on the season, while the Rox drop to 9-1.
Kreiling got the win, his second of the year. Johnny Dow took the loss, his first. The Huskies go for the sweep against the Rox tomorrow at 6:05 PM CT. You can listen to it on mixlr.com/duluthhuskiesradio2022.
