Mallards Host Woodchucks for Day Game Finale

Following a 12-10 loss in a shootout in the first game of the series against the Wisconsin Woodchucks (10-6), the Madison Mallards (9-7) host Wisconsin once again for the finale of the series at 1:05 p.m.

It was a back-and-forth game last night with a combined 29 hits and 21 runs. The Mallards got two home runs from JT Benson (Louisville) who went 4-for-5 at the plate, and also got a two-run homer from Josh Caron (Nebraska).

The Woodchucks Kevin Kilpatrick stole the show though, as he went 5-for-5 with a homer, double and three singles, including three RBI's. His performance won him Northwoods League Player of the Night.

Starting on the mound today for the Mallards will be left hander Ryan Cabarcas (Florida). He has made eight appearances and just one start on the season, owning a 6.91 ERA in 14.1 total innings pitched.

For the Woodchucks, it'll be Dylan MacCallum (Pepperdine). MacCallum had made seven appearances including two starts this season, and owns a 1.45 ERA in 18.2 total innings pitched.

The Woodchucks now lead the season series with the Mallards 5-4 after last night's victory. Every game but one so far between these teams has been decided by two runs or less. They will match up two more times after today's game.

Today's game is the finale of the series with the Woodchucks and the final game in a four-game home stand at the Duck Pond at Warner Park. Tomorrow, the Mallards will head to Fond Du Lac for a doubleheader with the Dock Spiders starting at 11:35 a.m.
