Last Game

Steve Michalek made 40 saves and Sam Warning scored what proved to be the game winning goal late in the second period as the host Mallards defeated the Indy Fuel 2-1 Sunday.

Upswing

The Mallards have won three of their last four games.

Busy

The Mallards are in the midst of a stretch of seven games in ten days and eight games in 12 days. Wednesday night's game in Missouri is the first of four in five nights for the Mallards. Beginning Friday they will play three games in three days for a second straight weekend.

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards have won five straight home games and are unbeaten in regulation (7-0-1) in eight home games since dropping their home opener October 23 against Tulsa. Their current home winning streak is the Mallards' longest since they won eight straight Central Hockey League games at home between March 3 and March 24, 2013. Their current home regulation unbeaten streak is the Mallards' longest since they went 11 straight United Hockey League home games (9-0-2) without a regulation defeat between February 2 and March 10, 2007.

Rough Road

The Mallards have suffered four straight road losses and have gone winless (0-5-2) in seven road games since winning their season opener in Allen October 16. Their current road regulation losing streak is the Mallards' longest since they lost five straight International Hockey League away games between March 19 and April 3, 2010. Their current road winless streak is the Mallards' longest since they went eight straight away games without a win (0-4-4) between November 9 and December 5 last year.

Finishing Kick

The Mallards have outscored the opposition 9-3 in the third period of their last six games and 14-4 in the third period of their last 11 outings. For the season they have scored 20 third period goals and allowed nine.

First Blood

The Mallards have allowed the first goal in each of their last five games and have won three of those contests. On the season they are 3-6-2 when giving up the first goal and 5-0-1 when scoring first.

Goaltender of the Week

Steve Michalek was named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week after going 2-0-0 last weekend with a 1.50 goals against average and .957 save percentage. Michalek, who was the ECHL's Rookie of the Month for October, turned aside 26 shots in the Mallards' 4-2 win over the Alaska Aces last Friday. He then set a team season high by making 40 saves in Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Indy Fuel.

Arch Madness

Olivier Archambault is on a four-game point-scoring streak (1-4-5) and has 12 points (four goals and eight assists) in his last nine games. Archambault is tied for third in the ECHL in assists (13) and is tied for fourth in points (18).

Iron Mike

Mike Monfredo has nine points (two goals and seven assists) in his last eight games and is now tied for the ECHL lead among defensemen in assists (12) and is third among defensemen in points (14).

Special Teams

The Mallards have gone just 2-for-15 on the power play over their last five games but still rank fifth in the ECHL on the man advantage (22.6 percent). The Mallards have killed off 11 of their opponents' last 12 power plays and are now tied for sixteenth in the ECHL in penalty killing (83.1 percent).

Head to Head

Tonight's game is the third of five this season between the Mallards and Mavericks. The Mallards fell 5-2 on October 27 in Missouri and suffered a 4-3 overtime loss to the Mavericks on November 4 at the iWireless Center. All-time, the Mallards have gone 23-25-5 overall against the Mavericks and 13-14-2 in Independence.

Warning's first career goal was the game winner in Sunday's victory over Indy...McMillan has recorded 99 points as a Mallard...Mike Monfredo has played 221 career games for the Mallards and will move past Matt Duffy into twelfth place in games played in team history with his next game.
