Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL-The Mallards host Kalamazoo and Bloomington this week before beginning a five-game road trip. The Wings are at The MARK on Wednesday before the PrairieThunder visit on Friday. Quad City begins the road trip on Saturday in Rockford. On Sunday, the team heads to Bloomington to play their final game before the UHL All-Star Break.
Last week, the Mallards went 0-1-1 during the first weekend of the new year. Quad City earned a regulation point in a 5-4 shootout loss to Kalamazoo on Friday. Saturday night, the Fort Wayne Komets handed the Mallards their first shutout loss of the year by a final of 3-0.

Elvis Night featuring Sunglasses Giveaway for first 500 fans, an Elvis Impersonator and prizes for fans dressed like Elvis
Portabella's Eating Contest
Elvis Night comes to The MARK on Wednesday, January 10th. The first 500 fans will receive Elvis-style sunglasses. An Elvis impersonator will be on hand to entertain fans and prizes will be handed out to fans dressed like Elvis. During the second intermission, Portabella's Restaurant is hosting an eating contest.

The Mallards host the defending Colonial Cup Champions for the second time in six days on Wednesday. Quad City is 1-1-1 vs. the Wings this year.
Friday, January 12th vs. Bloomington 7:00 p.m. at The MARK
The first-year PrairieThunder visit The MARK for the third time this year. The Mallards have won each of the two previous meetings between the teams at The MARK.
Saturday, January 13th vs. Rockford 7:05 p.m. at Rockford
The Mallards face the Hogs for the first time since December 15th on Saturday in Rockford. The Mallards are 2-3-0 this year vs. their closest geographic rival.
Sunday, January 14th vs. Bloomington 4:05 p.m. at Bloomington
The Mallards meet Bloomington for the second time in three days during a Sunday afternoon matinee at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Quad City is 3-0-1 vs. the PrairieThunder this year.

Duck Talk on the Air
Duck Talk returns to the Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge on Monday, January 8th at 6:00 p.m. Mallards Head Coach Brian Curran along with forwards Chad Woollard and Luke Stauffacher will be joining host Aaron Roof. Duck Talk can also be heard on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230.

Friday, January 5th - Kalamazoo 5 at Quad City 4 - Shootout
The Mallards kicked off 2007 with a 5-4 shootout loss to the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday night at The MARK. The high-scoring affair featured 74 shots and three lead changes. Quad City took a 1-0 lead when Patrick Nadeau scored his fourth goal of the season at 2:48 of the opening period. The Wings battled back to tie the game at one on a goal by Justin Cross just past the midway point of the opening period. In the second, the Wings took the lead for the first time on a shorthanded breakaway goal by Nick Bootland. At 15:41 of the middle frame, Chad Woollard netted his first goal of the night on a feed from Brett Pilkington to re-tie the game at two. The Wings re-took the lead when Kory Karlander scored at even strength with just 1:07 left in the second period. In the third, Quad City scored twice in a span of 40 seconds to re-take the lead. Justin Chwedoruk scored after whistling a shot past Kalamazoo's Tom Askey at 4:37 on a Mallards power-play. The score remained tied for less than one minute before Woollard scored at even strength with 5:17 gone in the final frame. The Mallards controlled play throughout much of the third and outshot the Wings 17-7 in the period, but a late Kalamazoo power-play goal forced the shootout. Jeff Brown sent a point shot through traffic and into the back of the Quad City net with just 1:32 left to force the extra frame. It was Brown's first goal of 2006-07. In the shootout, the first three Wings shooters (Alexander Valentin, Kory Karlander and Nick Bootland) scored while Tom Askey denied the first two Mallards. Patrick Nadeau broke through with a shootout goal for Quad City in the bottom of the third round. Both teams were held off the scoresheet in the fourth round to secure the win for the Wings.
Saturday, January 6th - Fort Wayne 3 at Quad City 0
The Mallards suffered their first shutout loss of 2006-07 on Saturday at The MARK. Fort Wayne rookie netminder Dan McWhinney made 33 saves in earning his first career shutout. Komet forward Daniel Goneau scored all three Komets goal in earning a hat trick. Goneau opened the scoring with an even strength tally at 1:28 of the first period. He recorded his second goal just 3:15 into the second. He capped his hat trick with a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 5:12 of the middle frame.
Player of the Week
Chad Woollard is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. He scored two goals in the Mallards pair of games this weekend.
Goalie of the Week
Jason Tapp is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He made 30 saves on Friday vs. Kalamazoo.
