Winston-Salem Dash News Release

KINSTON, NC (JULY 20, 2010) - Major League pitcher Scott Olsen will make a rehab start against the Winston-Salem Dash on Thursday night at BB&T Ballpark. The Washington Nationals left-handed pitcher will start for the Potomac Nationals in the first game of Winston and Potomac's four-game series.

Thursday's game begins at 7 p.m. and tickets may be purchased at the BB&T Ballpark box office or at www.wsdash.com .

Olsen (left shoulder inflammation) has pitched in the major leagues for parts of the last six seasons. He owns a career record of 35-43 with a 4.70 ERA. He began his big league career with the Florida Marlins in 2005 and was traded to Washington following the 2008 season.

After beginning the season with one start in AAA Syracuse, Olsen was promoted to Washington. In his eight outings with the big club, Olsen was 2-2 with a 3.77 ERA. He took a no-hitter into the eighth inning of a start against Atlanta in early May. He left his May 21 start against Baltimore after three innings with shoulder soreness and was placed on the 15-day disabled list the next day.

This will be the third minor league stop in Olsen's rehabilitation. The 26-year-old made two rehab starts for the GCL Nationals before pitching for low-A Hagerstown on Saturday.

The Dash will face Olsen in a rehab start for the second time in as many seasons. He started against Winston-Salem on June 9, 2009 while rehabilitating left shoulder tendonitis. He allowed three hits in three shutout innings against the Dash, striking out four.

Olsen will be the second major league pitcher Winston-Salem has faced this season. Jason Marquis also made a rehab start for Potomac against the Dash, allowing three runs on six hits in 3.2 innings on May 11.
