Frederick Keys News Release

Keys CF Kyle Hudson saved runs throughout the night, making a diving catch to take away a run in the second inning and throwing out a runner at the plate to end the sixth. But in the end he could do nothing when Lynchburg 1B Neftali Soto broke a 4-all eighth inning tie with a solo home run to left-center field as the Hillcats went on to score three runs in the inning to defeat Frederick 7-4.

Frederick trailed 4-0 through three innings but battled back. After stranding six runners on base in the first five innings it looked like the Keys were about to leave another opportunity for not in the sixth but they came through. With runners at second and third bases with two outs DH Miguel Abreu singled both home and went all the way to third on a throwing error. Abreu would score on a wild pitch to the following batter to bring Frederick within 4-3.

In the seventh inning the Keys tied it. 3B Billy Rowell lined a singled to center and went to third base on a chopper over first base by 2B LJ Hoes. 1B Buck Britton grounded out to score Rowell to tie the game. Both Rowell and CF Xavier Avery posted three hits in the loss.

Lynchburg would regain the lead with its three-run eighth inning.

The Keys will close its seven-game road trip with the rubber match of its three-game series Wednesday, July 21st at 7:05 p.m. Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. as RHP Ryan Berry makes the start for the Keys.

Frederick will return home for 50 Cent Hot Dog Night on Thursday, July 22nd at 7:00 p.m. as it hosts the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. For tickets contact the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
