
Mainers Sweep Double Header In OOB

Old Orchard Beach, ME - The Sanford Mainers took both halves of a twin bill with the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide, winning game one 1-0 and game two 7-2. The wins improve the Mainers to 15-12 on the season.
The Mainers got a tremendous pitching performance out of starter Tommy Lawrence in the first game. Lawrence pitched six shutout innings, allowing just one hit while walking three and striking out six.
The only run in game one came across for Sanford in the sixth. Marlon Calbi walked and stole second base. A Brett Mollenhauer groundout to second advanced Calbi to third before he scored on a Jack Lupo double for the 1-0 lead.
Tyler Mizenko pitched a scoreless seventh for the save to clinch the 1-0 Mainers win.
In game two the Mainers got on the board early, scoring in the first. Calbi was hit by a pitch and stole second base. Mollenhauer walked and Justin Leisenheimer was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Paul Kronenfeld hit a sacrifice fly to score Calbi and make it 1-0 Sanford.
The Raging Tide made it even in the second. Stephen Wadsworth was hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a Joel Stubbs single. Kyle Stearns singled to score Wadsworth and tie it at 1-1.
In the fifth Sanford broke the game open. Calbi and Mollenhauer walked. Leisenheimer doubled to bring in Calbi and put Mollenhauer on second. Kronenfeld singled to score Mollenhauer and make it 3-1 Mainers. Kronenfeld stole second before Nick LaCroix singled home Leisenheimer. Pat Devlin added a single to score Kronenfeld for a 5-1 Mainers lead.
Old Orchard Beach scored another run in the bottom of the fifth, but were held to just the two runs. Leisenheimer added a two-run homer in the sixth for the Mainers for a 7-2 final score.
