Danbury Westerners News Release
With two and a half weeks left in the 2011 NECBL regular season, the 16 and 9 Westerners are in first place in the Western Division and showcasing the full scope of their potential. The starting and relief pitching continues to be top notch and, in spite of the temporary loss of three hitting standouts, the bulk of the roster has produced offensive statistics that has the league abuzz.
In just the last six games, the combination of Tanner Krietemeier, Dane Opel, Chad Morgan and Tyler Horan have accounted for forty-nine total bases and a .583 slugging percentage. The club leads the league in five of six key hitting categories and, as soon the injured starters have returned, there is no telling how much pain the Hat City nine can inflict on opposing pitching.
The Westerners have four home games on the schedule this coming week as well as Monday's 7th annual Westerners Golf Tournament. Following four game road trip in the next three days, the Westerners return home on Tuesday to continue their attempt to maintain their lofty position, rewrite the NECBL record book, and drive to a NECBL championship.
This may be one of the most exciting Westerners teams in history. You don't want to miss a moment of action. Check your calendar and join the Westerners this week for all the fun.
