Danbury Westerners News Release

A familiar face will lead the Westerners on the field in 2023. Pitching coach Conor Farrell has accepted an offer to be the new manager, succeeding Ian Ratchford who resigned to accept additional responsibilities at UConn Avery Point.

Farrell joined the Westerners for the 2020 season which was subsequently canceled. He was instrumental in guiding the Westerner pitching staff during the 2021 run to the NECBL Championship and a 22-22 record in 2022. That marked the first time the Westerners had back-to-back .500 or better seasons since 2011-12.

In an email message Conor wrote "I am honored to be the next Manager of the Danbury Westerners. After being an Assistant Coach/Pitching Coach for the 2021 NECBL Champions and this past year I know I have some big shoes to fill in replacing Danbury's own Ian Ratchford. I will be looking to bring a large amount of energy to Rogers Park. I am looking forward to meeting the guys and getting started on our quest to bring the Faye Vincent Cup back to Danbury!! LET'S GO WESTIES!"

Farrell is the pitching coach at UConn Avery Point and the founder and owner of Connecticut Sports Performance in Stamford. He previously coached at The King School in Stamford.

Conor played his college baseball at Potomac State College of West Virginia University (NJCAA) and is a two-time Region XX champion.
