Mainers manager Aaron Izaryk is in the midst of his sixth season at the helm of the Moose and has been named northern division all-star manager with the Mainers owning the best record in the north (16-8) at the July 11th deadline. The All-Star team will be selected Saturday (7/12) and be announced in the following days. The 2014 All-Star game takes place on July 20th, in Holyoke, Massachusetts at Mackenzie Stadium.
General Manager John Webb could not be prouder of the Mainers and Izaryk's accomplishments so far this season, "I think everyone will agree that this is the best ball club that Aaron has put together for the Sanford Mainers. Aaron, Tim and John (Team Bridgton Academy) have done an incredible job in this campaign. There's no way to properly articulate how pleased and proud Mainers Nation is to witness the first half of the season. "
The Mainers have been in the midst of an 8-game win streak and victors of 9 of their last 10 games, currently sitting atop the Northern Division. The Moose have had one of the best pitching staffs in the entire NECBL. Over the past week, the pitching staff has recorded a 1.13 ERA while surrendering just 5 runs in 32 innings pitched during that span.
Mainers' manager Aaron Izaryk on the Northern Division All-Star managerial selection, "I am excited and humbled all at once. I need to thank the organization for their support, and the players on this year's roster. I haven't registered a hit, an RBI or a strikeout this summer, it's all about what these guys have done. They have put themselves and the Mainers organization in a position to have a special summer."
Manager Aaron Izaryk thoughts on the All-Star game itself, "The NECBL all-star game is a tribute to the talent that is attracted to these New England towns every summer. It's a true celebration of these players' accomplishments, and a stop along the way for many of these future pro baseball players."
Pitching Coach John Raiola and hitting Coach Tim Atwood complete an outstanding coaching staff that are meticulous in their preparation for each and every game. Izaryk, "a coach is only as good as the people around him and I have two of the best assistants around, along with a phenomenal baseball operations staff of John Webb and Jason St. Jean."
All throughout the Mainers organization there are hard-working dedicated individuals, bringing the City of Sanford fantastic baseball all summer long; business manager Becca LaPierre, host family coordinator Steve Cabana, volunteer coordinator Sue Hurley, Chairperson- Sara- Lea Gauthier, Vice Chair- Matt Bertrand, Treasurer- David Dupuis to the press box, where Jacob Ouellette and Keith Patterson manage in-game duties, to Brian Main keeping track of the most crucial game-by-game statistics.
