Maikel Jova Extends Hit Streak to 32 Games as Pacifics Beat Hawaii Stars

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - Maikel Jova hit his sixth home run of the season, drove in two runs and extended his consecutive-games hit streak to 32 as the San Rafael Pacifics beat the Hawaii Stars 10-2 on Thursday night at Albert Park.

Jova finished the night with three hits for the Pacifics (21-12), and first baseman Johnny Woodard homered, drove in two and scored three times.

Catcher Matthew Alton lined an RBI single in the first inning, after check swinging a ball off his right index finger. After the inning Alton was removed from the game and sent to Saint Francis Memorial hospital in San Francisco for x-rays, which came back negative.

Alton's replacement, John Hurst, went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Pacifics starter Jake Rasner kept contact to a minimum, striking out eight Hawaii Stars

(18-15). The right-hander allowed two earned runs on six hits and one walk over seven innings, as San Rafael took a three-game lead over Hawaii in the North American League's North Division.

The two teams play Friday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Pacificsbaseball.com as the first 500 fans in attendance will receive Pacifics License Plate Frames, courtesy AAA Insurance.

The two teams play again on Saturday at 5 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. The Pacifics Saturday home games will start at 5 p.m. for the remainder of the season.
