San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- A five-run fifth inning drove the Fort Worth Cats to a 7-5 win over the Colts Thursday night at Foster Field.

Catcher Derek Marshall, centerfielder R.J. Harris, second baseman C.J. Beatty, shortstop Shelby Ford and first baseman Jose Ruiz all scored for the Cats in the top of the fifth. Beatty, Ford, Ruiz and left fielder Chad Gabriel were responsible for driving in the runs.

Down 7-2, the Colts rallied with three runs in the eighth. Designated hitter Cory Patton capped the inning off with an RBI double. Patton, right fielder J.J. Sherrill and first baseman Daryl Jones all scored. With two on and two out, Cats' reliever T.J. Bozeman struck out the final batter to get out of the jam.

Fort Worth starter Trevor Harden (4-4) earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings. Closer Jeff Jamnik pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to notch his 12th save. Jamnik is second in the league in saves.

Colts' starter Brian Henschel (3-6) took the loss, surrendering all seven runs on eight hits in five innings. San Angelo's bullpen combined for four scoreless innings of relief, but the offense could not overcome Fort Worth's mid-game surge.

Centerfielder Ronnie Gaines hit a leadoff home run in the first inning. It was his sixth of the year. Meanwhile, Fort Worth third baseman Brandon Jones hit a two-run homer in the second. Jones leads the United League with 11 home runs.

The win improves Fort Worth to 30-21, while the loss drops San Angelo to 24-28. This four-game series concludes Friday with Ethicon Buyout Night, sponsored by Ethicon. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
