GRANVILLE, W.Va. - West Virginia 1B Albert Baur recorded two hits but a two RBI double from Scrappers' LF Todd Isaacs in the ninth inning pushed Mahoning Valley past the Black Bears 4-3 on Thursday night from Monongalia County Ballpark. Reliever RHP Neil Kozikowski took the loss surrendering three earned runs over 2.2 innings.

After both teams were held scoreless for the first three innings, Mahoning Valley took an early 1-0 lead in the fourth as 3B Gavin Collins, who led off with a triple, crossed the plate on a Black Bears' error. Just one inning later, West Virginia would respond as 3B Will Craig began the frame with a single to extend his hitting streak to 12 games. After a passed ball and a wild pitch, Craig would come in to score on Baur's RBI single to tie the game, 1-1.

One frame later, the Black Bears loaded the bases and jumped ahead of the Scrappers on C Kevin Krause's RBI walk, 2-1. Kozikowski entered in the seventh inning for starter RHP Stephan Meyer who received a no-decision, fanning six batters through six innings while not allowing an earned run on six hits.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, West Virginia added another run on an RBI single from RF Sandy Santos to provide the Black Bears with a 3-1 advantage. But, the Scrappers would answer in the top of the eighth on an RBI groundout off the bat of 2B Erlin Cerda to cut Mahoning Valley's deficit to 3-2.

The Scrappers would complete the comeback in the ninth inning. After back-to-back, one out singles from C Gian Paul Gonzalez and SS Alexis Pantoja, Isaacs' RBI double put Mahoning Valley in front, 4-3.

The Black Bears had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the frame as LF Hunter Owen led off with a double. After a pop out and 2B Kevin Mahala's single, runners were on first and third. Mahoning Valley would eventually win the game on a game-ending double play as Santos flew out to right field and Scrappers' RF Silento Sales threw Owen out at the plate.

Gonzalez paced the Scrappers' 11-hit offense going 3-for-4 with a run scored as reliever RHP Michael Letkewicz improved to 5-0, tossing the final two innings scoreless. Baur paced West Virginia's attack going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

The Black Bears (20-26) and Scrappers (21-24) will meet in the final game of the series tomorrow night at 7:05 PM from Monongalia County Ballpark on Fireworks Night.
