St. Cloud, MN - A walk-off single in the bottom of the tenth sent St. Cloud (20-6) to its 12th consecutive victory, a 3-2 win over Willmar (12-15).
Jack Winkler (San Francisco) stepped up to the plate with a runner on second and one out in extra innings. The Rox' shortstop jumped on a curveball and sent a single down the left-field line to bring in Justin Kirby (Kent State) and earn St. Cloud its sixth straight sweep.
The Rox have won 18 of their last 20 games and maintain their two-game lead over Mankato in the Great Plains West. St. Cloud has just six games to go in the first half of the season as it pushes for a playoff berth.
St. Cloud fell behind in the top of the eighth but was able to tie the game back up in the home half. Kirby scored on a walk to Justin Van De Brake (Washington State) with the bases loaded to even the contest and send the game to extra innings.
Kevin Davis (USC Upstate) kept the game tied in the ninth and tenth innings, retiring all six batters he faced. Davis earned his first win of the season and stranded a runner on third in extras to give the bats the chance to walk it off.
The Rox got on the board in the third inning thanks to a single off the bat of Bobby Goodloe (TCU). In his first six games with the Rox, Goodloe has ten hits and has driven in five runs early on this summer.
On the mound, Hunter Dollander (Georgia-Gwinnett) got the ball for his second start of the season and went five innings for St. Cloud. Dollander allowed just one run and helped the Rox to stay in the game early on.
St. Cloud will bring the winning streak on the road on Monday to face the Eau Claire Express for the first of two games. First pitch from Carson Park will be at 6:35 pm.
