Magic Split Series With A Victory Over Capitanes

The Osceola Magic defeated the Mexico City Capitanes at Osceola Heritage Park 130-108 on Saturday Night.

Osceola's Trevelin Queen contributed 19 points, 12 assists, and eight rebounds, while Mac McClung had a team-high 26 points and seven assists.Ethan Thompson led the Capitanes with a game-high 38 points. Iverson Molinar added 22 points, eight rebounds, and six assists off the bench.

"We took what we learned from yesterday and applied it today," Queen said. "We showed that we could overcome adversity. I was able to help everyone get involved, thankfully, my team believes in me."

"We were able to maintain control today," Osceola Head Coach Dylan Murphy said. "Last night was a tough loss, but today they were able to come back with a vengeance. Our players want to get to the NBA, and they understand that being a part of a winning team will make that possible for them."

"We were fed up with losing and wanted to get back on a winning streak," McClung stated. "A win yesterday would've solidified our chance to be a part of the tournament this week. Every day we are building to get better, we're hoping that we find our rhythm soon."

The Magic's depth shone with seven players scoring in double figures, capitalizing on Mexico City's 21 turnovers to score 31 points. The Magic stretched their lead to 22 and secured a home court victory.

The Osceola Magic (8-6), NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, will be participating in the 2023 Winter Showcase scheduled from Dec. 19-22. The event will take place at the Hyatt Regency Orlando and the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
