
Magic Fall to Vipers on the Road

The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, fell to the Rio Grande Vipers 114-107 at the Bert Ogden Arena.
The Magic faced the Vipers for the first time this season. Lakeland opened the game strong outscoring the Vipers 35-31. For the second consecutive game, Magic guard Jay Scrubb fired off 11 first-quarter points. At the start of the second quarter, Magic guard Drake Jeffries provided scoring off the bench. Jeffries had nine second-quarter points on three of four shooting from deep. Magic guard Joel Ayayi finished the first half with 15 points, helping Lakeland to a 68-56 lead.
The Vipers opened the second half by striking back at the Magic. The Vipers outscored Lakeland 27-17 trailing by two at the end of the third quarter. Early in the fourth quarter, the Vipers claimed their first lead since the second quarter. The Vipers got their fifth win in a row with a strong scoring performance by guards Louis King and TyTy Washington Jr.
Washington Jr. finished with a game-high 25 points. King posted 20 points, seven assists, seven rebounds, and five steals. Willie Cauley-Stein added a double-double scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Joel Ayayi had 21 points for the Magic.
The Lakeland Magic (4-6) will host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Friday, December 9 at the RP Funding Center at 7:00 PM onNBAGleague.com.
