Magic Fall to Nets

The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, fell to the Long Island Nets 102-74 in front of a home crowd at the RP Funding Center.
The Magic, playing with just six players, were hampered due to recent injuries. The Nets were hot from the start and secured an eleven point 30-19 lead at the end of the first quarter. They continued the scoring drive and would take a 53-37 lead into the locker room at the half. Long Island increased the lead to 20 points at the beginning of the third but the Magic answered with an eight-point run to get within 12 points with 8:13 remaining in the quarter. The Nets shifted the momentum and the score was 77-56 heading into the final quarter of play. Long Island increased the lead to as much as 30 points before securing a 102-74 win over Lakeland.
BJ Johnson led the way for the Magic scoring 27 points and 6 rebounds. Hassani Gravett was also a key contributor with 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jon Davis was just shy of the double-double with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Michale Kyser posted 8 points and 8 rebounds on the night.
Long Island had six players in double figures. Jaylen Hands scored 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Devin Cannady posted 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. John Egbunu had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Ash Yacoubou also had a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists. Jonathan Kasibabu scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. C.J. Williams scored 11 points and 5 rebounds.
The Lakeland Magic head out west to the MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase tournament in Las Vegas, NV. The Magic will open the 2019 NBA G League Showcase as the #10 seed, playing the #11 seeded South Bay Lakers on Thursday, December 19th at 5:30 p.m. EST. ESPNU, ESPNEWS, ESPN+ and NBA TV will broadcast the rest of the event while GLeague.nba.com will stream all games.
