College Park Skyhawks News Release

EAST POINT, GA - The College Park Skyhawks, the official G League Affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, hosted their inaugural 'Season of Giving' event today, in collaboration with NBA Cares. Players and staff members packaged food collected from canned food drives held in November and early December, which will benefit local non-profit Reaching Out 4 You.

In addition to the packs of food that will be given to local, low-income families, team members wrapped presents and assembled holiday gift bags for Atlanta-area children. The gift bags included hand-written cards from players.

"This was a special experience for my teammates and I," said Skyhawks guard Brandon Goodwin. "It's important that we're able to give back and make a difference for people who may not be able to go out and purchase gifts and food otherwise, especially around the holidays."

Reaching Out 4 You was founded by Atlanta native Jemika Bryant in 2014 when she saw the need for resources for low-income families and individuals. The non-profit provides food and necessities, job resources and education, and addiction prevention services.

"Having the team here today was really helpful," said Bryant. "We accomplished a lot together for local families and I can't wait for the people we serve to see the holiday bags and the cards. We want to continue working together in the future."

Food and gifts packaged today will be distributed to families and individuals throughout the holiday season. For more information on Reaching Out 4 You, visit www.reachingout4you.com. The Skyhawks continue their inaugural season on Dec. 17, taking on the Windy City Bulls at home in a 7 p.m. start. For more information on the Skyhawks, visit www.cpskyhawks.com.
