FORT WAYNE, IN (January 15, 2011) -The Fort Wayne Mad Ants defeated the Dakota Wizards in an overtime thriller by a score of 119-116. The Mad Ants finished with six players in double digits.

The Wizards built a lead as large as nine points on the strength of shooting 57 percent from the field in the first quarter and led 32-27 at the end of the first 12 minutes.

Gilbert Brown and Ramon Harris hit consecutive three pointers for the Mad Ants to kick off the second quarter and dissolve their deficit. The rest of the quarter was a back and forth, entertaining battle. Fort Wayne hit a jumper with only .5 seconds left in the half, but Dakota rolled the ball to half court where Edwin Ubiles hit an off balance, high-arcing, nothing but net half-court shot to beat the buzzer and send both teams to their locker rooms tied 58-58.

Dakota pulled ahead in the third quarter as all five starters reached double digits in the scoring column. Ubiles led the Wizards with 22 points and Dakota went to the fourth quarter with an eight point advantage.

Fort Wayne picked up the intensity on defense to tie the ball game at 99 a piece with just 5:00 left on the clock. Dakota held a two point lead in the final seconds until Gilbert brown picked up the offensive board and was fouled on the put back off of a Cameron Jones missed shot. Brown nailed both free throws to send the game into overtime.

The overtime period did not disappoint as it was every bit as exciting as regulation. Dakota and Fort Wayne traded three pointers and slashing drives to the basket, but the difference in the game came on the defensive end. Fort Wayne stole a Dakota inbounds pass late in the period that sealed the victory for the Mad Ants despite a last second shot attempt by the Wizards.

Darnell Lazare led the Mad Ants with 24 points, and Cameron Jones added 22. Russell chipped in with a double-double of 13 points and a game-high 11 assists.

Ubiles scored a game-high 27 points to pace the Wizards, and Maurice Baker packed the stat sheet one assist away from a triple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists.
