Mad Ants Mount Comeback to Beat BayHawks

Erie, Pennsylvania, Friday, March 14 - Rob Kurz scored a team-high 23 points and added 15 rebounds to lead Fort Wayne back from an early 16-point deficit to down Erie 90-86 in front of 3,354 fans at the Tullio Arena.

Erie scored the game's first 12 points en route to a 24-10 first quarter lead, but the visiting Mad Ants rattled off a 19-5 run to tie the game midway through the second frame at 29-all. Oliver Lafayette led the Fort Wayne attack by tallying 12 of his 22 points in the quarter to enter halftime leading by three, 42-39.

After intermission it was Erie's turn to take charge again and build another lead of 10 points with eight minutes to play in the game. But Fort Wayne would not be denied. The Mad Ants outscored the BayHawks 26-14 the rest of the way and took the lead for good on a Ryan Ayers 3-pointer with just forty seconds to play. Cedric Jackson missed shots on Erie's last two trips down the floor as Fort Wayne held on for the win and improve to 18-27.

Erie was led by Jackson's 23 points and Blake Ahearn added a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds as Erie dropped to 18-28.

The same two teams play again on Friday as the BayHawks continue their longest homestand of the season. Tip is set for 7 pm.
