March 24, 2010 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

NEW YORK, March 24, 2010 - The San Antonio Spurs have signed guard Curtis Jerrells to the Austin Toros, and immediately assigned him to the Toros. The GATORADE Call-Up and the assignment are both firsts for Jerrells' in his career. The call-up and assignment are the 27th and 32nd, respectively, of the 2009-10 NBA D-League season. With the assignment, Jerrells joines Erie BayHawks guard Blake Ahearn as the only players to have been called-up and assigned in the same season.

Jerrells has appeared in 43 games, all stars, for the Toros this season, averaging 20.7 points (6th in the NBA D-League), 5.6 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 39.9 rebounds. He has scored in double figures 40 times, notching six games with 30 or more points. Jerrells has led the team in scoring on 13 occasions and assists 33 times. For his efforts, Jerrells was named NBA D-League Performer of the Week twice during the season.

The 6-1 rookie out of Baylor makes his NBA regular-season roster debut with the Spurs, following a stint with the team during the 2009 NBA preseason. During the 2009 NBA Summer League, Jerrells played with the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 5.2 points in 5 games.

An Austin native and four-year contributor at Baylor, Jerrells averaged 16.3 points, 4.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds during 39 games his senior year. Jerrells was named to the All-Big 12 Rookie Team in 2006 before earning First Team All-Big 12 honors following his senior season.

Jerrells will continue to play with the Toros on assignment, and is expected to be in action tonight when the team hosts the Springfield Armor at the Austin Convention Center.
