Mad Ants Drop Season Opener to Sioux Falls

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne Mad Ants fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, 112-101, at the Sanford Pentagon on Friday night in front of a crowd of 2,678. Two-way player Davon Reed led the Mad Ants with 25 points and 14 rebounds in his Fort Wayne debut. Stephan Hicks added 20 points and four rebounds.

Sioux Falls (1-0) never trailed in the game after jumping out to a 6-0 lead to begin the game, which would grow to as large as 18. Miami Heat two-way player Yante Maten started the game 4-for-4 from the floor and led the Skyforce with 20 points, on top of snatching six rebounds in his professional debut.

With the loss, Fort Wayne (0-1) dropped its record to 6-6 all-time in season-opening games.

Elijah Stewart, who is one of five rookies on the Mad Ants' opening night roster, finished his professional debut with 15 points off the bench, including a 7-for-7 clip from the free throw line.

Omari Johnson capped his Fort Wayne debut with a double-double effort consisting of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Tra-Deon Hollins finished one assist shy of a double-double to go along with 13 points.

The Mad Ants open up the home slate next Friday night against the Erie BayHawks at 7 p.m., while Sioux Falls will face the Iowa Wolves tomorrow night.
