Erie, PA - The Erie BayHawks, NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club (1-0), took down the Grand Rapids Drive (0-1) tonight inside Erie Insurance Arena, 125-114.

After one quarter of play, Erie held a 35-31 lead. BayHawks guard R.J. Hunter finished the first 12 minutes with 10 points on a perfect 4-4 (1.000) shooting from the floor, including a 2-2 (1.000) clip from three-point territory. Atlanta Hawks two-way guard, Jaylen Adams, buried back-to-back triples to end the first half, as Erie built a 14-point lead heading into the intermission of tonight's contest. After two quarters of action, the BayHawks found themselves with a 69-55 advantage. Erie out rebounded Grand Rapids 36-17 (+19) in the first half.

The BayHawks would extend their lead to 19, 74-55, off of a Terrence Jones free throw early in the third quarter. The Drive would respond by finishing the quarter on 36-16 run, taking a one-point, 91-90, lead heading into the final 12 minutes of action. The BayHawks would open the fourth quarter on an 11-2 run, building a 101-93 lead with 7:16 left in regulation. Erie would eventually walk away with an 11-point, 125-114, win in its season opener.

The BayHawks out rebounded the Drive, 62-39 (+23). Erie's 62 total rebounds marks a new franchise record (previously 61 at Delaware, March 28, 2014). Additionally, the BayHawks set a new franchise record for defensive rebounds in a game with 46 (previously 44, happened twice before). Erie also held advantages in points in the paint (62-44) and second chance points (16-6).

R.J. Hunter poured in a game-high 34 points on 12-18 (.667) shooting from the floor, five rebounds, four assists and a team-high three steals in 33.1 minutes of play. Terrence Jones (25 points, 34.1 minutes) and Atlanta Hawks two-way guard Jaylen Adams (23 points, 35.4 minutes) each notched 20-plus points in tonight's win. Daniel Hamilton, on assignment from the Atlanta Hawks, registered Erie's first triple-double since Peyton Siva did so on November 21, 2014 (courtesy of Elias Sports Bureau). Hamilton tallied 13 points, a game-high 12 rebounds and a game-high 11 assists in 36.5 minutes of play.

Detroit Pistons two-way forward Zach Lofton led the charge for Grand Rapids, finishing with a team-high 26 points, a team-high tying 11 rebounds, a team-high nine assists and a game-high four steals in 36.1 minutes. Henry Ellenson, on assignment from the Pistons, also notched a double-double. Ellenson finished with 19 points, a team-high tying 11 rebounds, five assists and one block in 34.2 minutes of action.
