SPRINGFIELD, MASS. - The American Hockey League announced today that Rockford IceHogs goaltender Mac Carruth has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Apr. 17, 2016.
Carruth allowed two goals on 79 shots over three starts (3-0-0, 0.67, .975) to send the IceHogs into the Calder Cup Playoffs on a winning streak.
Carruth opened the week by stopping 20 of 21 shots in Rockford's 2-1 win at Iowa, allowing only a first-period power-play goal to the Wild. On Friday night, he made 31 saves as the IceHogs shut out Grand Rapids, 4-0, in a game that ultimately decided third place in the Central Division. And on Saturday, Carruth ran his shutout streak to 152:17 before allowing a late goal in a 7-1 romp over division champion Milwaukee to close out the regular season.
Carruth made 17 appearances with Rockford in 2015-16 and went 6-5-2 with a 2.30 goals-against average, a .926 save percentage and two shutouts. A 2010 draft choice by the Chicago Blackhawks, Carruth has split his three professional seasons between Rockford and the ECHL, compiling a record of 10-8-3 with a 2.51 GAA, a .914 save percentage and three shutouts in 27 career AHL contests.
In 25 games with Indy this season, the native of Jackson, Wyo. recorded a 12-0-3-0 record along with a 2.43 goals against average and a .918 save percentage. Carruth is the winningest goaltender in franchise history, posting a 29-23-5-5 record in parts of two seasons with the Fuel.
In recognition of his achievement, Carruth will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming IceHogs home game. Rockford begins the first round of the 2016 Calder Cup Playoffs against the Lake Erie Monsters with Games 1 and 2 coming Wednesday and Thursday at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
