
Maatta Named to Team Finland's Preliminary Roster

LONDON, ONTARIO: London Knights Defenceman Olli Maatta was one of 27 skaters named to the Finnish National Junior Team Preliminary Roster by Team Finland this afternoon. He will be auditioning for a spot on the Finnish National Junior Team that will take part in the 2012 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2011-Jan. 5, 2012, in Calgary and Edmonton, Alta.
Maatta, 17, is in his 1st season in the Ontario Hockey League with the London Knights. He was the 1st overall selection of the 2011 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft and is NHL Draft eligible this coming June. A native of Jyvaskyla, Finland, Maatta was just 16 years old, and the youngest member of Team Finland, when he competed at the World Junior Tournament in Buffalo last year.
