Lake Erie Crushers News Release

Traverse City, MI - Crushers starter Brent Lysander was brilliant on the mound for the second time in a row as Lake Erie downed the Traverse City Beach Bums 7-1 at Wuerfel Park on Wednesday evening.

The right-hander tossed a complete game and didn't allow a run until two were out in the ninth inning as he upped his record to 6-1. Lysander allowed just six hits while striking out four and walking two. The former Oakland A's farmhand has worked at least eight innings in each of his last two starts.

The Crushers offense supplied Lysander with all of the offense he would need in the first three innings. Arden McWilliams hit a two-run triple to right-center field in the first inning to get Lake Erie out to a 2-0 lead. Jodam Rivera continued the beat in the second inning as his two-out, two-run double plated Wayne Bond to up the Crusher advantage to 3-0. Then in the third inning, Tyler Johnson continued his hot hitting since joining Lake Erie, as he lifted a two-run homer to center off of Kevin Reese to give the Crushers a 5-0 advantage.

Reese would keep Lake Erie off the board until the ninth inning, when catcher Kylee Hash hit a two run single to extend the Crushers lead to 7-0. Lysander's pursuit of a complete game shutout ended with two outs in the bottom of the ninth when Andrew Stafford hit an RBI single. Lysander rebounded to strike out Brad Miller to end the game.

The Crushers are now 35-25 on the season and will continue their series with Traverse City on Thursday night. Rookie Alberto Rolon will make his first professional start against the Beach Bums' Bret Bostelman.
