
Lyons assigned to West Michigan

COMSTOCK PARK - The Detroit Tigers announced today that righthanded pitcher Tom Lyons has been assigned to the West Michigan Whitecaps. Lyons will be on the Whitecaps roster on the disabled list and will be rehabilitating in Lakeland, Florida with the Gulf Coast League Tigers.
Lyons was selected by the Tigers in the 40th round of the June 2001 draft. He played his first two seasons with the rookie league Gulf Coast Tigers and played 2003 and 2004 in short-season Oneonta.
Lyons started only two games last season before being sidelined due to a right shoulder tear on July 10, 2004.
