Week In Review
Thursday, March 22
Augusta 6 vs. South Carolina 5 (SO)
After trailing 5-2 through 40 minutes of play to a South Carolina team that was 24-0-0 when leading after two periods of play this year, the Augusta Lynx staged a tremendous comeback with three goals in the third period en route to a 6-5 shootout win over the Stingrays Thursday night. Garrett Bembridge scored twice while Aaron Slattengren, Mike Erickson, and Greg Watson each added singles in the game for Augusta. Dave McKee made 22 saves through overtime and stopped all five shooters faced in the shootout for his 28th win of the year, which sets a new Lynx team mark for victories in a season.
Friday, March 23
Augusta 5 vs. Charlotte 2
Louis Goulet scored twice to kick start the offense for the Augusta Lynx on Friday night, and Mike Erickson scored the 2,000th goal in Lynx franchise history, the eventual game winner, in a 5-2 win Friday night. Ken Scuderi and Ryan Petz also chipped in with markers while Dave McKee turned in a 38 save performance for the win.
Saturday, March 24
Augusta 5 @ Pensacola 4 (SO)
After falling behind 1-0 early in the opening frame, the Lynx used special teams to re-take the lead. Louis Goulet's shorthanded goal was followed by Aaron Slattengren's power play marker for a 2-1 lead after one period. Pensacola jumped back in front with a pair of goals just under two minutes into the second period, but Mike Erickson scored twice to once again give Augusta a one-goal lead at intermission. In the third Sergei Ogorodnikov scored his second of the night to push the game to a shootout, where the Lynx prevailed by scoring three times in five attempts. Nathan Marsters collected the win with 30 saves and turning aside three of five shooters in the extra session.
Milestones
- Dave McKee's 29 wins is a new Lynx team record, breaking the old one set by Judd Lambert.
- Mike Erickson scored the 2,000th goal in Lynx team history Friday night against Charlotte, the eventual game winner.
- Augusta needs six points and two wins to break franchise records in those categories before the end of the regular season.
