Ottawa Lynx News Release

International League Final - Tuesday August 21st, 2007 @ Lynx Stadium, Ottawa, Ontario

The Lynx scored the winning run and an insurance run on two bases-loaded walks, earning a split in their four-game series against Buffalo and notching the 997th regular-season win in franchise history.

The win bumps the Lynx record to 51-78 while Buffalo falls to 68-61.

Lynx Players Of The Day: Gary Burnham continued his charge towards the Lynx single-season RBI record, driving in runs number 74 and 75, leaving him 10 RBIs short of the record, with 14 games to play. The current mark was set in 1994 by Shane Andrews.

Game Recap: Buffalo jumped ahead early with two runs in the top of the second inning. The Lynx chipped away at that lead with a run of their own in the bottom of the third. Gookie Dawkins got the home team on the board with a solo home run over the left field wall, drawing the Lynx to within one. Buffalo's lead would only last another inning as the Lynx got the tying run in the bottom of the fourth. Joe Thurston led off with a double and moved to third on a Jason Jaramillo fly ball. Gary Burnham's RBI double cashed Thurston and squared the affair at 2-2. Ottawa put up two more runs to put the game away in the bottom of the seventh without getting a hit. The Lynx used five two-out walks and a throwing error to score a pair of runs, leading to a 4-2 win over Buffalo.

Next Game: The Lynx have tomorrow off before embarking on their last road trip of the season, a seven-day, eight-game trip to Syracuse and Scranton. First pitch for Thursday's doubleheader in Syracuse is set for 5:00 pm.

Probable Pitchers: Thursday @ Syracuse: Ottawa RHP Matt Childers (7-2, 5.02) and a Lynx pitcher to be determined take on Syracuse RHP Mike MacDonald (4-8, 4.82) and a Chiefs pitcher to be named later.

Fans can venture up to the Upper Deck Sports Bar on the third floor of Lynx Stadium. The Upper Deck features nightly food specials and 30-cent chicken wings available after each Lynx home game!
