Duluth, GA - A four-goal second period helped propel the Augusta Lynx to a 7-4 win over the Gwinnett Gladiators on Sunday afternoon at The Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Shane Hynes kicked off the scoring bonanza just 56 seconds into the middle frame when he wristed a shot past Dan Turple to tie the game at 2-2, followed by a Ryan Lang goal at 2:37 to give the Lynx the lead.

Aaron Slattengren and Brian Passmore each added goals to give Augusta a total of four in just 8:42 and forge a 5-2 lead before Colton Fretter's ECHL-leading 34th of the year on the power play made it 5-3 at intermission.

In the third, Brad Schell brought the Gladiators within a goal at 7:49, an even strength marker to make it 5-4, but that was as close as the game would get.

Slattengren's second goal of the night came on a key turnover inside the Gwinnett blue line off the stick of Bryan Dobek, letting the Lynx forward break in on net and beat Turple blocker side low to make it 6-4.

Lang would ice the game with his second of the night into an empty net at 18:34 to provide the final margin of victory.

Scott Lehman opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal for the Gladiators at 6:39 of the first period. Chad Painchaud took the puck wide on the Augusta defense, leaving Lehman open in front for a one-time goal.

Augusta would respond as Mike Erickson tipped a shot through the five-hole on Turple at 7:48 to tie the game from Nick Kuiper.

Back came the Gladiators with a power play goal off the stick of Scott Mifsud at 12:26 for a 2-1 lead at the first intermission.

Nathan Marsters earned the win with 20 saves, leaving the game late in favor of Dave McKee who played the remaining 5:23, stopping all three shots faced. Turple took the loss with 29 saves.

Augusta will get back to action this Friday night against the Florida Everblades at 7:35 pm.
