Augusta Lynx News Release

Another piece of the puzzle fits into place for the Augusta Lynx today, as the team is pleased to announce they have agreed to terms with forward James Massen.

The 6-2, 220 lb. Massen (pronounced MAY-sen) was selected in the sixth round, 194th overall, by the New Jersey Devils in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and played four seasons with the University of North Dakota. His best year came as a sophomore, when he totaled 15 goals and 35 points in 42 games for the Fighting Sioux. Over his college career, the Bismarck, ND native notched 23 goals and 61 points in 135 games.

"Jason is a big, strong power forward who has great offensive potential," said Lynx head coach and director of hockey operations Bob Ferguson. "Coming from a national power like North Dakota, we know he has the tools to make an impact with our club."

Massen joins Ryan Lang, Brian Passmore, Doug Wright, Jake Riddle, Chris Chaput, Jimmy Callahan, Rich Hansen, Ryan Bennett, Colt King, and Sam Ftorek in the forward ranks for Lynx training camp. Defensively the club has Marty Lapointe, Phil Cole, Ken Scuderi, Shaun Fisher, Treavor Peterson, and Eric Lundberg under wraps thus far.
