Lynx defenseman Adrian Veideman recalled to Portland

Augusta, GA - Augusta Lynx Head Coach Bob Ferguson announced today that Lynx All-Star defenseman Adrian Veideman has been recalled by the Portland Pirates, Augusta's American Hockey League affiliate. This marks the second time this season that Veideman has been recalled by Portland.

Veideman, 24, is having a stellar rookie campaign for the Augusta Lynx. The defenseman from Sicamous, British Columbia leads all Lynx defensemen in scoring with 29 points in 44 games played. He is in the top 10 in the ECHL for defensive scoring and ranks second among all rookie defensemen. Veideman recently played in the 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game back on January 23rd in Stockton, California, earning an assist for the American Conference team.

This marks the second call to the AHL of the season for Veideman. Veideman played in five games with the Pirates from January 12th-19th. His best game with Portland came back on January 13th during a 5-2 road win against the Lowell Devils, in which Veideman scored his first AHL goal and added an assist while being named as the game's first star.

Prior to turning pro this season, Veideman played four years for the University of Denver Pioneers, where he won back-to-back NCAA National Championships in 2004 and 2005, and appeared in 149 career games with the Pioneers.

Portland is currently in 3rd place in the Atlantic Division of the AHL's Eastern Conference with a record of 31-17-2-3 and 67 points.

The Augusta Lynx return home after a 10-day layoff on Friday, February 22nd against the Florida Everblades at 7:35pm at the James Brown Arena. The Lynx will host Educator Recognition Night on Friday. On Saturday, February 23rd the Lynx will host the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05pm at the James Brown Arena. Saturday is the live jersey auction for the game-worn white Lynx player jerseys. Following the game, there will be a live auction for the actual white jerseys worn by the Lynx players throughout the 2007-08 season.
