Minnesota Lynx News Release

NEXT GAME

Minnesota at Phoenix - Wednesday, June 28, at America West Arena (2:30 p.m.)

The Lynx head to Phoenix for a game that should be a match-up of two hungry teams. The Mercury will undoubtedly be hungry to avenge the 94-82 loss the Lynx handed them on June 18. The Lynx, on the other hand have lost two games since that meeting and will be savoring the opportunity to get back on the winning track. The game will give WNBA fans a chance to see the league's top scorers on the floor at the same time in Phoenix's Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter and Minnesota's Seimone Augustus.

SCORCHING SHOOTING

The Lynx have looked like one of the WNBA's top shooting teams this year. The statistics verify it. The team has four players ranked in the top fifteen in the WNBA in three point percentage. Svetlana Abrosimova (2nd, 0.560), Amber Jacobs (7th, 0.444), Seimone Augustus(13th, 0.415), and Kristen Mann (14th, 0.412) are all connecting from distance at a rate of better than forty percent. As a team, the Lynx are shooting 40.6 percent from behind the arc and holding their opponents to only 32.1 percent.

REBOUNDING IS KEY

The Lynx have hit the skids in the past few weeks, losing four of their last five and part of the problem might be their rebounding. In those four losses Minnesota has been out-rebounded by an average of 12.5 rebounds. On June 16, the Lynx could not stop San Antonio from raking in 56 boards, the most the Lynx have ever allowed an opponent. At Connecticut last Thursday the Lynx matched their largest rebounding deficit ever (50-31) in another losing effort. In Saturday's loss to the Liberty, the Lynx were only out-rebounded by four. Next the Lynx will play Phoenix, one of the only teams they've had luck rebounding against. In the teams' last meeting, the Lynx held a 43-28 advantage on the boards. The Lynx are 4-1 when they out-rebound their opponent.

All games can be heard on the radio home of the Lynx on BOB 106 with Brian Sieman calling the action.
