Minnesota Lynx News Release
TONIGHT'S GAME
Lynx Home Opener vs. Connecticut
8 p.m. at Target Center
The Minnesota Lynx tip off their most anticipated season in team history tonight against the Connecticut Sun at Target Center at 8 p.m. The 2006 season marks the Lynx' eighth season in the Twin Cities, and the fifth time the team has opened the season at Target Center. Minnesota holds a 4-3 all-time record on Opening Night. This year's roster features four players making their Lynx debut: free agent signee Adrian Williams joins 2006 WNBA Draft picks Seimone Augustus (1st overall), Shona Thorburn (7th overall) and Megan Duffy (31st overall). The eight holdovers from the 2005 roster are led by Svetlana Abrosimova, who is entering her 6th season in Minnesota, and Tamika Williams, who is starting year five with the Lynx.
SEIMONE, SEIMONE, SEIMONE
Tonight's game marks the regular-season professional debut of 2006 WNBA No. 1 overall draft pick Seimone Augustus. Augustus did not disappoint in her two preseason games, averaging 28 points per game. The 6-0 guard tallied two of the top four scoring efforts in the league this preseason, with a 30-point performance at Phoenix and a 26-point effort vs. Seattle. Augustus, only the second player in the history of women's collegiate basketball to win the Wade Trophy (best women's player) twice, led LSU to three Final Four appearances, and led the nation in scoring as a senior with 22.7 points per game.
TONIGHT'S OPPONENT
The Lynx lost the 2005 season series to Connecticut 0-2. The Sun's victory last July 17 halted a four-game drought at Target Center for Connecticut, dating to an 83-80 victory in August of 1999 when the franchise was in Orlando. Despite last year's sweep, Minnesota leads the all-time series 7-5. Minnesota's most recent victory was a 68-52 decision on July 22, 2004 in Connecticut.
TONIGHT'S BROADCAST
Tonight's Lynx Home Opener and all Lynx games during the 2006 season can be heard on the radio home of the Lynx, BOB 106 (106.1 FM), with Brian Seiman calling the action. Tonight's game will also be nationally broadcast on ESPN2.
LYNX TICKETS

NEXT OPPONENT
The Lynx visit the Detroit Shock tomorrow night (Wednesday, May 24) at 6:30 p.m. in the second game of the 2006 season. The Lynx and Shock split the two-game series last year with each team winning at home. Minnesota's three-game winning streak vs. the Shock was snapped in Detroit with an overtime loss on Aug. 11. It was the third time in the last seven meetings that the two teams went into overtime. Minnesota holds a 7-4 all-time advantage and is 2-3 all-time in Detroit.
