Seattle Storm News Release

This Week's Opponents

Houston: Seattle and Houston will square off for the first time since the Comets ended the Storm's season last summer with a 75-58 win at KeyArena on Sept. 3 in the First Round of the playoffs. The Storm have won the last three regular-season meetings at KeyArena while going 6-6 against the Comets over the last three seasons. Houston leads the all-time series 14-7.

Phoenix: The Storm took two of three games from the Mercury last summer, including a 78-67 win in Phoenix on June 2. That game was the Storm's only victory in their last five trips to the desert, off-setting the current six-game winning streak Seattle has enjoyed against Phoenix at KeyArena. Seattle holds an 11-9 edge in the all-time series.

Simone Edwards Retirement Ceremony Tuesday

The Storm will honor center Simone Edwards, who recently announced her retirement from the WNBA, in a special ceremony prior to the game vs. Houston on Tuesday, May 23 (8 p.m. tip). The pre-game ceremony will feature a special video highlighting Edwards' six seasons with the Storm and her involvement in the Seattle community. Edwards will also address the KeyArena crowd and receive a commemorative scrapbook created by Storm fans and staff.

Donovan to Coach 200th WNBA Game

Seattle's matchup with Houston on Tuesday will mark Anne Donovan's 200th game as a head coach in the WNBA. Donovan trails only Houston's Van Chancellor (289 games) and Washington's Richie Adubato (212 games) on the league's all-time games-coached list. Last August, Donovan became the first female coach to win 100 games in the WNBA. With a career record of 104-95 (.523), Donovan joins Chancellor (193 wins), Michael Cooper (119 wins) and Adubato (116 wins) as the only coaches in league history to reach the 100-win milestone.
